Features:

Drawn by Pain
"Drawn by Pain" tells the story of a young woman pushed to the edge of insanity and the animated demons that are unleashed by her rage. But that rage, that fear growing deep within her would surface and once unleashed – could never be re-contained. Ten years older, the demons of old fuel her, empower her and push her to be the very thing she once feared: A monster in her own right.

Drawn by Pain is a one of a kind mixed anime/live action series shot completely in HD on the streets on New York . As a growing web hit, “Drawn by Pain” has been downloaded 500,000 times to date, been featured by Blip.tv, VUZE, Brightcove, Veoh, Miro and many others. It was listed on the “What’s Hot” list for iTunes and recently appeared on IFC News while showcasing the New York Anime Festival.

Having just been nominated for a “Webbie” award, the Big Apple Convention is proud to host this premiere of “Drawn by Pain” on the big screen in a seamless non episode format (over an hour and a half).

Methodic
Methodic is the world's first basher movie. Originally pitched as "Halloween" on steroids, Methodic captures all the elements of classic horror from the moody atmosphere to the agonizing suspense leading up to each kill.
Centered around a boy who is demonically possessed, ominous presence known as "The Dollman", Nicholas Matthews is forced to obey his dark half, and ultimately murders his parents. Sentenced to a life under a microscope at the state mental hospital, the boy slowly gains control over the darkness hiding within him.
But evil cannot be contained so easily. Instead, "The Dollman" simply bides his time, dwelling inside the boy- waiting for the day when he will become powerful enough to completely take over his human host. And when that day comes, god help us all.
Chris .R. Notarile, director of "Methodic", has been making short films for the last 4 years. With a resume of over 100 credits, Chris has made quite a name for himself in the fan film world, producing some of the more popular online shorts, such as "Catwoman (The Diamond Exchange)" and "Power Girl (The Classifieds)".

Tomb Raider: Ascension
This fan film, directed by filmmaker Stephen Reynolds, tells the story of how the young Lara Croft, a child of privilege and wealth, becomes the Tomb Raider.

In a journey of adventure and self-discovery, Lara finds the truth behind her mother's death, her father's disappearance, and her uncle's obsession with the Ascension Stone, a sacred Mayan artifact, believed to hold the secrets behind the end of the Mayan calendar in 2012. Tomb Raider: Ascension shows the journey of a young, irresponsible and fallible woman learning how to deal with not only the pressures of having to potentially save the world, but also becoming an adult.

The Big Apple Convention is very proud to give this feature its American debut.

Back Issues
Peter, a wannabe comic book letterer, has just proposed to his girlfriend. Instead of saying yes, she gives him an ultimatum: "Give up comics, get a real job, or we’re through." The pressure is on, Peter must choose by the end of the workday between his girl and his passion for comic books.

The filmmaker Jonathan Para has worked as a writer and director on short narratives and film festival trailers; some of his pieces include the short film, Dogs Make Great Pets, and the trailers for the Film Arts Festival of Independent Cinema, the San Francisco Black Film Festival, and the Cine Acción Festival, ¡Cine Latino! He has recently completed Back Issues, a short comedy narrative that blends live-action with comic book art.
